Make one? It's even more difficult. There are so many touchpoints systems, platforms, tools and service providers all working together to make the business work. Many touchpoints generate a lot of data. And with lots of data comes confusion. If there was an “Aha Moment”, it was when I listened to a podcast in which. Tobias Lütke, one of the founders of Shopify, was Job Function Email List interviewed. I can't remember if it was Tobias or the interviewer who called Shopify the ultimate crapshoot in e-commerce. In case you didn't know, this phrase comes from the California Gold Rush. Who is sure to make a disaster in a gold rush. People who sell the tools (pickaxes and shovels) needed to mine gold. Today, e-commerce is a gold rush. After listening to this interview, I did a quick Google search. It turns out there are over a million active Shopify stores and over two million active sellers on Amazon. It's incredible ! That's when I realized that while Shopify is the ultimate game of "pick and shovel," it can't be the only one in town. The light bulb came on.
